Lots of strange things can happen when anyone first starts on an antidepressant. Children on it bother me even worse. It takes a while for the body to become acclimated to the drug. If this is something that has started happening down the road or if it persists then I would obviously call the dr. Good luck and God bless.
I am not a dr. My statements are based on years of experience and related education. Consult with the professional of your choice regarding matters of concern.
My 10 year old girl is taking 10mg paxil. Can she start acting out dreams without knowing it
I agree with the posts above me. I would ride it out a little longer until she becomes more adjusted to the medication because paxil and all drugs in the SSRI class can have a very wide variety of side effects. The side effects should hopefully decrease and hopefully go away completely but if they consist or become particularly bothersome then talk to your doctor.
---I answer questions to the best of my ability, but with always limited knowledge of the patient's situation and no ability to see your chart or full medical history my advice is limited and should also be confirmed with your own doctor/pharmacist/etc. Also, I do not promote following my advice without proper approval from your doctor either--
Her mom took her to Dr because she depressed after our divorce and he thought it would help she was doing ok on 5mg but then they moved it up to 10mg I have since had tem move her back down
What the hell are you giving a ten year old child this or any other drug like this for?
Of course a child is going to be sad after their parents split up but thats normal, its part of learning how to deal with life.
