YES, you will go thru withdrawal and pain. Tramadol(Ultram) is useless for most people with chronic pain, especially when perc's are needed to control the pain. I would call your Dr immediately and demand to be tapered off of it, and call other Dr's for a new one. If you have insurance and your current Dr wont taper you off, then find one that Rx's subutex/suboxone. Those Dr's can usually fit you in immediately.
Plus, your Dr was giving you a bad Rx. 3 perc's a day isnt enough. They only last 4hrs and then what happens when you must take 1-2 more a day. I assume you had to do this so he thought you were abusing them. I feel for you and Good Luck. |
Thanks so much for your response. You see, what happened is that my primary care dr. wouldn't write me anything stronger than darvocet. So, he had the other dr. that was in the office with him write the "good"stuff". Well, apparently just a couple of weeks ago, he got into trouble for writing too many narcotics and lost his liscence! When it was time for me to get a refill on my
percocets, I told my regular doctor that I knew he wouldn't write them, but I did need something. He knows how bad my pain is. Heck, I'm in there every week for shots so he sees how bad I am. He said, well, I can write you darvocets, no, I think I'll just drop you on down to tramadol. You've got too much of this other in your system making you think you need them! I ONLY TOOK 3 A DAY!!!! Now, things went from bad to worse. He decided last week to stop taking my insurance. He didn't give anybody any notice. I live in a small town where there's just not alot of options. I've been trying desperately to find a new pcp and have had no luck. I don't know what to do. Pain meds aren't the only thing I'm on. What's gonna happen when I run out of the other stuff? I'm sorry, didn't mean to get all cranked up and dump on ya. Anyway, thanks again, and good luck with whatever situation you are in as well.
