I have found there to be a number of ppl saying that the painkillers, in fact, will not work at all that the meth. blocks the effects. some say it does releive the pain and no euphoria. some say there is euphoria. My question is: ...

Methadone at doses of 80mgs and above has a blocking effect, meaning that it will blaock the euphoric effects of other opiates at that dosage. You may get some pain relief, but no euphoria. Methadone patients are tolerant to their dose and require a stronger than average dose of opiates for pain, given at more frequent intervals. The suggested meds are Fentanyl, dilaudid and morphine.

When I was on methadone and needed pain relief, the doctor increased my dose. It did the trick.

As far as getting any kind of euphoria or mood lifting out of painkillers while on methadone, good luck with that. Meaning, forget about it. You are just wasting the pills.

If you are having mood imbalance issues, try talking to a doctor about an anti-depressant or a mood stabilizer.

Hope that helps.
