Default Whats my next option

I have severe low back pain and I have been taking 180 per month (6 per day)10/325 percocet and they don't ease the pain anymore. I am trying to find out what is the next stronger medication I should take to help me.

How long have you been on this dose of percocet? There are several meds that would be stronger than that particular dose.

Percocet 10/325 is a good dose of oxycodone ... 10mg but only 325mg of acetaminophen. You would likely notice more with 10/650 but that takes you up to the FDA maximum dose per day allowed of acetaminophen. They could also try a stronger oxycodone with no acetaminophen at all. There are several choices. Are you expecting to be on narcotic pain medication for life? Or is this something that will be improving? What is the prognosis of your condition? God bless.

You didn't say how long you've been on it, but it's common to get bumped to a CR, such as Oxycontin tid, maybe the new 30mg pill.

Unhappy

I have a herniated disc between L5-S1 with major siatica in my left leg all due to a car accident where I was rear ended. I allready had a discectimy and about 12 steroid injections. It looks like I will be taking medications for lhe rest of my life unless I only lay down.

Quite honestly if you are truly going to be on narcotic pain medication for life you should be looking at something besides the percocet 10/325. That is not a medication for the longterm. You could use the 30mg roxie for now. Eventually methadone might be your best bet if you are going to be doing this for life. Its a little too soon to be going that route now though. You need to talk to your pain dr and see what he/she recommends. Let us know what you are told please. Good luck and God bless.

Hey brother.I have severe siatica on right side.I have degenerative disc disease, impingment of the thecal sac,Herniation in L4 and L5 S1 ...I had an accident in 2001....3 nerve blocks so far and tons of pain pills for the last 5 years I was taking quadruple my prescribed dose I ended up taking 100 mg plus of hydrocodone a day..."10 Lorcets" I would eat at least 10 pills in a single dose..Pain pills will stop working eventually...Do yourself a favor and start thinking about other ways to treat your condition...Options are limited ,but damn .. pain pill therapy can be a nightmare. It was for me..Eventually the pain pills will stop working....you can either take more pills or deal with the pain and find other treatments,...Be careful!...Good luck !!!
