Default what works for insomnia?

does anyone know what really works for insomnia?. my boyfriend cant sleep at night at all, he falls asleep in the early morning hours,like around 4 or 5am. what can he try or ask for that will help him get on the right track? we have a hyperactive two year old, and its hard with my boyfriend not wanting to get out of bed untill noon everyday.he just got a script for restoril, he took 2, it calmed him down, but did not put him to sleep.any advice please??

You say he's not getting out of bed everyday until noon,is he not working????If he isn't working and just sitting around then my guess would be he's suffering from depression which can have the sleeping patterns he's showing.Melatonin(sp) may help but if he's depressed then he needs to see his doctor and get on some sort of anti-depresant.Once he gets his depression under control then he can go out and start being a productive father.Good luck.....Dave

Hi Leana,
It could be that your boyfriend has a type of circadian rhythm disorder - delayed sleep phase syndrome.
