Default What works best for depression?

I was on Lexapro for one month and noticed some improvements in my emotional state. If I missed taking it one day or even not at the exact time each day, I had dizziness and headaches. The headaches were so intense I'd be bedridden and sick to my stomach. I've been off it for three months and in that time my depression has spiraled out of control (I am unsure if it is due to withdrawal or if it is due to my own condition). Some days I completely shut down and I want to consider a new form of medication. Are there any anti-depressants/ssri that have worked positivily for anyone?

Antidepressants....and their effect......will vary from one person to the next, so please be cautious in taking advice. It also depends on what type of depression you have as to which medication will help you the best.

Who is prescribing for you.....a family doc or a psychiatrist? My personal feeling is that most family docs are not knowledgeable enough about the different types of depression and up to date enough on the meds being used today and do not follow up as well as a psychiatrist would.

It's hard, but you have to be patient trying a new antidepressant because the majority of them require time to build up to a certain blood level. And then you night still have to adjust that level.
