I am just curious what is the difference between two narcotic based pain relievers. One being darvocet-n and the other being
norco?? I suffer from chronic life altering pain, and recently changed insurance and of course doctors, ( don't you just love that?)So after reading my medical file, my new doctor thought I should try something different. Before I was taking
oxycontin, only how it is prescribed, and even less than prescribed, it would last at least 12 hours in my system which meant I could sleep through the night without waking the household screaming in pain. Now this new doctor has me taking norco, and darvocet-n, which seems like it would take a much larger toll on my liver and kidneys, because they both have apap in them, (tylenol) and the oxycontin had no apap. aren't the darvocet and the norco both narcotic pain meds, and why don't they work as long as the oxycontin? I was with my prior doctor for 8 yrs and we have been through the gammot on what works and doesn't work, she monitored me closely, and we were both relieved to finally find something that made my life much more comfortable. I did go to many physical therapists, pain clinics, accupunctureist, accupressureist(*sp) so it wasn't a decision that was entered in lightly, and like I already said I have to start over AGAIN.!!! Sorry to ramble on, I am just really frustrated, physically suffering, and plain upset that my new doctor acts like I don't have a clue of what I am talking about.
So if someone can please explain why I would be prescribed 2 types of pain meds darvocet-n and norco, rather than just staying with what was working and also how do darvocet and norco differ from each other. Thanks for letting me vent a bit again I am sorry next time I won't be so long winded THAT'S A PROMISE
