I have been using 70 mg daily of Vyvanse for 5.5 months. Yes, the initial sleeplessness & appetite suppression effects do gradually go away. For some it may takes as long as a month - 6 weeks though. I still have dry mouth, you will need to drink something throughout the day when this hits you. And remember to eat, if you don't eat, you will feel somewhat sick, shaky & irritable. Eating snacks like peanut butter, nuts, granola bars, cheese, and crackers or bread will help this tremendously. I am a 46 yr old mom of 3 and have had focus issues all my life - I knew that I was bright, but just thought I was lazy, a real detriment to my self esteem. Recently, when pursuing treatment for my daughter for inattentive ADHD, it was all I could do to not cry as the doctor described the symptoms. That was me! It took me 2 months to make an appt. for me and my life has changed. I now have a hope and a future, I can do anything I want to do with confidence that I will finish what I start, it will be done the right way (instead of just the easy way). I can remember where I am going and whether or not I stopped at the traffic light. My daughter also takes vyvanse for 7.5 months with tremendous results, however we have noticed that recently she is gradually seeing reduced effectiveness. We are now increasing her dosage to see if it helps. She also seems a little irritable, we are watching that also.
