Default Tylenol 3 w/Codeine vs Vicoden

I was just curious as to the comparison of the two. I was randomly reading up on them and saw that most people are having the opposite effect to the two drugs than I am. I used to take T-3 for a pinched nerve I had a while back, and had to recently take it again when I had my wisdom teeth out. The dentist first prescribed me vicoden. but when I take vicoden, it does nothing to me, but if I take a tylenol 3 with codeine it knocks me out for 4-6 hours. I'm not usually effected by tylenol alone. So I'm confused as to why everyone else has a much greater response to vicoden then to T-3 but I'm the exact opposite. Especially considering that the doctors at my campus health clinic are much more likely to prescribe vicoden than T3. Just a minor question if anyone has the time to give me some input that would be great, thanks.

Both codeine and hydrocodone are weak opiates but it is not unusual for a person to react to different types. As you may not know opiate addicts usually have a drug of choice and it is usually for the reason you just described. It's really different between our two countries as I'm in Canada but we would never get an opiate for 90% of dental work, weird isn't it.....Dave
