Default Trileptal

My daughter is going to be starting on Trileptal 150 mg twice daily for 2 wks and the 300 mg twice daily for 2 wks. She is 20 yrs old. The neurologist has prescribed this after finding a "mild abnormality on her EEG. Does anyone know what kind of side effects are caused by this drug?

more common side effects include GI S/E such as nausea & vomiting, constipation, diarrhea and abdominal pain, dizziness, headache, drowsiness.

Rare side effects include leucopenia (decrease in white blood cell count), steven-johnson syndromes (a serious hypersensitive skin reaction) and arrhythmias.

Patients or their cares should learn to recognize signs of blood, liver or skin disorders, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as lethargy, confusion, muscular twitching, fever, sore throat, rash, blistering, mouth ulcers or bleeding develop.

Hope this could help.
