tranxene My doc put me on 5-10 mg tranxene (Clorazepate) at nighttime to help me overcome lexapro sleeping disorders and to further cure my anxiety (addition to lexapro).
Do you have any feedback on tranxene? Is it addictive? -
Tranxene is a benzo and it is definitely addictive. It is normally used for anxiety disorders. I personally see nothing wrong with a small dose for a very SHORT period of time to help get past the lexapro.
You should refer to the lexapro withdrawl thread on this forum. It's probably the largest thread on the entire forum with so much good information that could help you. God bless. -
Preza,
SHORT time is the key phrase, as Robert pointed out. It's not meant for everyday stress/anxiety. Ask your dco, how long he plans to keep you on the tranxene and voice your concerns. -
Thanks a lot for replies. I already have expressed my concerns to the doc twice, because I am on this forum long enough to see benzos addiction. However he replied me that a dose of 5mg during night time is not addictive and prescribed me more (the second visit).
Robert I am still on lexapro 10mg ( I started on August ) and the problem is that, although it worked for my anxiety, I have some sleeping disorders from lexapro, combined with my effort to stop alcohol (I drank a lot before sleep prior starting lexapro).
Please define "SHORT TIME" thanks. -

Short time is meant to be less than 30 days. If you need the medication longer than that there are other issues needing to be addressed. Beyond thirty days only during a "real" panic attack or unusual circumstances would I say it's acceptable. Some people have ongoing seizures. That would be an acceptable circumstance. I suffered and still do from sleep disorders. Tranxene is not the answer. God bless. -
