So,
I've recently went through opiate withdrawals for the first time. Not to say that I didn't have a bad withdrawal, just had never dealt with it before. It involved about 3-4 days of terrible nausea, vomitting, and not being able to sleep. All this nastyness lead me on day 3 to seek some sort of relief/aid in kicking the habit, so I got myself some
tramadol.
I took 4 50mg pills, and after about an hour without any noticable effect (still feeling absolutely miserable) I took 4 more. Thats 400mg. Yes, I'm well aware that its more than one should be taking, but from everything I've read, it's not a number that immediately screams 'Dangerous Overdose'
An hour or two later, I had a seizure. A pretty bad one, actually.
The reason it surprized me so much is because I've taken Tramadol in the past, many times actually, with no ill effect.
My recommendation: Don't take Tramadol with any other convulsants, and avoid it like the plague if you're detoxing from anything that raises your seizure threshold, even slightly (Opiates, Barbituates, Benzo's etc.).
I'm not a doctor, but I had a basic understand of drug pharmacology.
Just be careful - I'm a really healthy young guy, never had a seizure before in my life, and it scared me pretty good.
Best Wishes,
Ethan
