Hello everyone,

I just joined the group today. I was really glad to see a group out there about Topamax. I have not been on it long but i have heard some horror stories and some very successful stories so i guess it makes me feel better seeing there are others to talk to on the subject. Maybe someone to ask questions and get answers etc. First off, My name is Tiffany. I am a 25 y/o single mother of a 18 month old little boy. I recently started taking Topamax after a Migrane that sent me to the Hospital ER in an ambulance as it gave me a seizure. I am a former Epileptic. I have Migranes alot. About 2-3 times a week usually lasting a few hours to a day or so. My doc. thought it would be best to try some preventitive meds instead of just narcotic pain killers when the migrane acctually onset. I did some research after being put on Tmax and seen it has many other uses then just for migrane prevention. I have SchizoAffective Disorder with Bipolar Type, Severe Anxiety Disorder with Agoraphobia, Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and a few others i wont bother listing to make this a bit shorter. I am curious if anyone here knows anything about the other uses. Or if anyone has any success stories with using as anything other then migrane prevention. I am on other meds for the other problems i have such as Xanax, Prozac, Ritalin, Trazodone, & Ambien. I do pretty well on them meds, but if i can scale down on how many meds i take a day that would be so great. Also as far as Side Effects go the only thing i have noticed is Numbness in my fingers or my tounge for short periods of time, drowsiness, a lil blurry vision but not too bad and the worst i guess for me is i have had TERRIBLE!!!! heartburn! almost like being pregnant with my son all over again! lol Anyone else ever had these side effects? Do they go away? Any answers or info would be greatly appriciated! Thanks and i look forward to meeting you all!

Hey I'm about to start topamax on tuesday for weight loss because i am on remeron and risperdal and they make me gain weight big time. I read some things about it that wasn't so good but i am so desperate to lose weight now that i don't even care. I'll let you know how it goes though.

just replied on the other topamax topic. Using topamax for weight loss isn't uncommon. Found the side effects, etc here: http://www.pills2sleep.com/topamax.html
