Question Tinzaparin (Innohep) administration in pregancy and post caesarean

Hi can anyone offer some advice. I am a midwife in England and I am putting together some patient information for self administration of tinzaparin, or Innohep in the states.

AS a practitioner I usually give it in the arm, as I am one reluctant to give in the belly in either a heavly pregnant woman, and also post caesarean section.

However the usual none pregnancy advice is to inject into belly......and to consult doctor if using in breastfeeding or pregnancy????

Does anyone have some sound evidence of were is the best place to give the injection and how??? in relation to obstetrics???

anything would be much appreiciated.

regards Michelle
