i am currently on 90mg of methadone with 40mg of hydrocodone daily for chronic pain. that is just not covering my pain. i still hurt every single day. any suggestions on what i should do next. should ask my pain management dr to up my methadone dose, or is there something that would work even better? and is 90mg of methadone considered alot? there have been days where i can easily take 190-200mg of methadone and that does seem to cover my pain, but i am hesitant to tell my dr i have taken that much. please i can use all the help and suggestions i can get. i dont know where else to turn, and i have an appt to see my dr tomorrow. HELP PLEASE.

wow, that is a lot of methadone.. I wont bore another thread with my story about what happened the last time i took methadone but i will say, something you probably already know, that methadone is extremely dangerous.
The amount that i took, the last time i took it was only 40 mg, which pales in comparison to what youre taking but was still enough to stop my breathing and my heart from beating.
I realize youve probably built up a tolerance but wow, i had no idea that that much could ever be tolerated.

You're not including the part where you took two xanax bars with the methadone. That was the problem. Methadone and xanax in that kind of a dose causes respiratory failure. You never take xanax and methadone together unless dr instructs you. Did your dr instruct you to take those bars with the methadone??? 90mg of methadone is NOT that high of a dose. Lots of people take lots more than that. God bless.

No, they werent prescribed to me.. i didnt realize the xanax had that much an impact on what happened..
Neither were prescribed to me, I was trying to get rid of a massive headache and they were given to me by my brother.

This is how most methadone-related accidents happen. A dr never would have prescribed two xanax bars with methadone in any dose.

Methadone has its risks for sure, it's a very serious medication. But methadone shouldn't be feared. It's perfectly safe to use when it's used the right way under the care of a dr. You can't take it any way that you choose though, it can certainly be abused.

I pray that you are careful taking drugs like that from the street in the future. It's playing for keeps when you do something you think is innocent just like what you did with the methadone/xanax. God bless.

Yea, i know it was a stupid thing to do but trust me, ive learned my lesson, i dont take anything that i know nothing about.
Actually, i really dont take anything that isnt prescribed to me anymore unless maybe I run out hydro and someone gives me some to get through w/d's.
