Default switching from meds to Methadone

I wear fentenyl patches 75mcg every 48 hours along with what is suppose to be Morphine IR 15 4 times a day. THe morphine isnt really doing the job. I have been medicated for about 7 years now and Im tired of all of these meds that make me sick, hurt my body and dont work. I have had my issues of taking more as well. I am ready to ask my doc to switch me to Methadone. What dosage would I start out at? I will need to be on meds the rest of my life and I am ready to do it without causing more harm to my body. What sucks is I didnt know that I was hurting myself for a long time.

hi..ive been taking methadone for awhile.i love it.to me its a great drug used far too little.there are only 2 strenghts 5mg &10mg.for someone like you who took the drugs you did for such a long peroid i think you should take 10mg at least 4 times a day.many doctors dont give it to people because they dont know alot about or how much it really helps with chonric pain it dont give you the high alot of painkillers give.so if your looking for that dont take it.but as far as helping control pain its wonderful!!

BUMP~

Sorry I just came across this thread and I wanted to let you know that your wrong about the Methadone...it also comes in a 40 mg tablet a big guy often called a "buiscut". Two kinds actually, that I know of. One is harder and scored in quarters to be broken and swollowed like any other oral med and it also comes in a very soft orange flavored 40 mg disc that is meant to disolve in a small dosing cup of liquid to be swollowed like a drink.

Just wanted to let you know.
