Unhappy Suboxene

I recently took Suboxene for the first time that I had gotten from a friend to help me cope with withdrawals coming off of narcotic pain relievers. I know they are supposed to give you some feeling similar to that of pills such as Codeine to help your body cope, but my entire body turned red, and I was itching so badly that my face and arms were raw by the end of the day. The only drug i'm allergic to is amoxicillin, so what could have caused this? Could it have been because I still had other narcotic pain relievers in my system, or could it have been a newly developed allergy I just didn't know about?

Thumbs up I may know whats up.

Hiya, i was just browsing through this site and read a lot of helpful stuff, and just by accident i came across your post, so i decided to make an account just because, even though you may have found out whats up by now or maybe even changed from Suboxone to a Subutex , if you havent, ill explain you whhat i think.

First of all , if you DID (or do) have ANY kind of opiates in your sistem (like the ones you were trying to come off of) when you take Suboxone, or Subutex, you will get serious side effects, and sometimes even precipitated withdrawal. This is because the main drug in these (Buprenorphine), is not only a substitute, but a blocker too, meaning you cant use on top of it because it wont work. But that also works backwards; If you have any opiates in you system when you take Buprenorphine (wether its Subutex/oxone) it KICKS OUT forcibly all the opiates in you, therby making you cluck like **** straight away. Not always, depends on a lot of things, but deffinetly they dont react well together so unpleasant side effects are to be expected if you do that, which i dont recomment.

Now, to make it even worse : Subutex is JUST Buprenorphine. 8mil Subutex is 8mil Buprenorphine. BUT Suboxone is Buprenorphne AND Naloxone. 1 forth of the ammount of Bupe, so an 8mil Suboxone is 8mil Buprenorphine AND 2mil Nalaxone. Now you remember what buprenorphine itself does with opiates in your system, now Naloxone, is actuall a drug specifically used as a blocker. Meaning, if Buprenorphine acts both as a SUBSTITUTE (to keep you well) and a BLOCKER (so you cant use/take more oxys/df's on top of it) , Naloxone is ONLY a blocker. See what they did there? So you got TWO things interfering with the restant of opiates in your system, making you ill.

Thats why the first thing doctors do before putting anyone on Subutex/Suboxone id make sure they havent taken any opiates in the last 8-36 hours, (depending on the opiate, heroin=8 hours, codeine/dihydrocodeine=12-18, oxycodone/methadone etc.. 24-36 hours) So im surprised your doc didnt tell you this.

Also sounds like you could be alergic to Naloxone, as your sinptoms dont indicate withdrawal.

Anyways i used to be on Subutex 16ml and they changed me to 16 ml suboxone (supposedly the same, as the naloxone is there to reinforce the blocking effect and to prevent people from injecting the buprenorphine) so if you take them the proper way under you tounge there should be absolutely no difference.

BUT for some reason i was sick as hell so i begged them to put me back on the 'tex but instead they put my dose up from 16 to 18ml suboxone, then 20 then 24 but i was still not well so in the end the FREAKING switched me back to Subutex and now im on twice as much as i should be on.

So i hope theres at least something helpfull in that mess, after all i joined just to tell you what i knew about this :P

PS: I liked the 'boxones orangey flavour though...

Good luck getting off opiates, im just over 1 year clean now.

Here is the way we suggest using suboxone/subutex. This method has worked for lots of people including myself. Check the following link.

There is no number of hours you can know in advance when a person will be ready for induction from any particular drug. The only way to know is by using the COWS worksheet or a similar process. Here's the link for the suboxone/subutex therapy link. God bless.
