Question strong back pain

for the past few months, maybe 4 or 5, i have been having back pain that is at times severe, but never goes away. i was prescribed muscle relaxers (flexeril, skelaxin) and all they did was make me tired and my back still hurt. then i was prescribed ultracets after going to the ER, and again they did nothing. after finally putting my foot down and letting my doctor know that everything i've gotten doesn't work, he prescribed me lortab 5's, and they work miracles. however, as they're only 5's, i have to take about 3 or 4 a day.

does anyone else find that muscle relaxers and ultracets dont do a thing?

and does anyone else have back pain that doctors really can't give you a good reason as to why it's happening? my new doctor said it's because of "my large chest size and small frame". i don't know if i really believe that my chest can make my back hurt like this all the time, but i dont know. anyone care to share their stories of back problems and things that helped? any certain prescriptions? any help would be great.

Yeah mate, I have also been suffering from the hands of back pains for long and the doctors have failed to identify the reason for the same. I cant say if I am right but I have a feeling in the cases of 8 people out of 10 the doctors find it difficult to diagnose the exact reason of such pain. I cant remember at the moment the number of medications that I have taken to solve the problem. Now being fed up have taken the aid of yoga to see if it helps me in anyway.

Most certainly a large chest can cause all kinds of back problems. If your planning on keeping everything the same then what you need to do is get your lower back muscles and your abdominal muscles in better shape. You can get these easy exercises from your doctor or the internet.Believe me those weak lortabs are fine for a couple weeks but if you keep taking them your going to be headed for trouble. You can either get a breast reduction or started strengthing up our lumbar and abdominal muscles to support your upper body better.Good luck....Dave

Red face ...

yes i have started doing back strengtening exercises, i looked them up online. i also have started working out. a breast reduction is out of the question, lol, so i have started working out instead. i start physical therapy today and then i also have a tens unit (e-stem, whatever). what i dont understand, is that i've had a large chest since i was in 7th grade, and im now 21, why did this pain just start? also, would it cause shooting pains like it does?
