My husband has chronic pain due to herniated disks and a hemangioma in his spine. Since 10/1/06, he has been taking Percocet to for pain management. However, he dislikes the rapid tolerance and physiological dependence he has developed to Percocet.

He has just recently seen his pain management specialist, who suggested Avinza. He has not started it yet.

Neither my husband nor I know much about Avinza for chronic pain management. We would like hearing from anyone who has used Avinza.

Avinza is a long acting morphine capsule that is supposed to last 24 hrs.It is an exellent pain killer much better then quick acting oxycodone (percocet)which isn't much good after a month or so of use.Your husband will do much better with this pain med and there isn't as man side effects.If he does develop itchiness then buy some benadryl capsules or syrup and take that.Alot of patients at first get itchy but like I said the benadryl takes care of that.Good luck and I would start that as soon as possible......Dave
