Default SSRIs and Wieght gain

Hi all,

Just wondering how much exercise those who experience weight gain are doing? I was on 20mg of Paxil for anxiety (now down to 10mg). I experienced some weight gain (only in specific areas which is wierd), but I have always struggled with my weight (thus I work out a lot). Here's the thing, I don't know if I can blame my weight gain on Paxil because I am not working out nearly as often (used to run 5km per day, five days a week and weight train on those days too). But I wonder if that is because Paxil has made me lethargic and not as concerned about getting exercise.

So just wondering if you all could maybe put down your weight and excersise amount before taking an SSRI, length of time on that SSRI, and your current weight and amount of excersise. Any additional information like age and hieght would be helpful too.

Here are my specs:

Hieght: 6ft
Weight Before Paxil: 185
Waist Size: 32
Exercise: 5 days/week cardio and weight training

SSRI Type: Paxil
Time on SSRI: 8 Months
Dossage: 10mg - 20mg

Weight after Paxil: 190
Waist Size: 34
Exercise: Ice Hockey 3 days a week, Circuit training 1-2 days per week

Cheers,

I would attribute it to not exercising as much, and yea I know paxil can make you feel a bit lazy and unmotivated at times. Use it to your advantage... try working with heavier weights more often. You may find that the extra weight may actually become lean and in areas you would prefer it to be... gotta burn the calories, and it seems that some people's metabolism slows down somewhat on SSRI's meaning they need to be more active to burn them instaed of making fat stores.
Not surprising that it would go to just certain areas. If the extra weight is coming as fat, there are usually normal places that it ends up in both men and women. Men being the gut and women often in the hips and thighs, before other places.
