Question Splitting Suboxone/Subutex dosage

I have been on Subutex for a couple of weeks now, I take 16mg around 11:00 everyday. I have tried taking it at different times and found that around lunch time is the best for me. Around 4-5pm I feel like I need it again. Its like I have minor withdrawal symptoms.
I have heard different people advise others to split their dosage and take half in the am and half in the pm my work better. I was wondering what the benefit to that is. Will the 8mgs alone be enough to "do its job" or do I need the 16mg all at one? I have read tons of info on this and cant really find the answer that I'm looking for.

I also thought that the reason my doctor has me only taking it once a day is so that I will get out of the habit of taking pills. So if I do split up the dosage am I risking returning to that "grab a pill" habit?

Thank you for advance on someone that can help me with this. Its only been two weeks and this stuff has really changed my life. Its not been completely easy, its hard to stop something that you've done for so long and your brain is used to having.
