Default This a side effect of Amoxicillin?

Given this antibiotic to take and I noticed very shortly after I took it for the first time if I eat something or smell something I am overwhelmed with this really disgusting and repulsive taste and smell. I made a sandwhich and had to throw it out cause I couldnt stand to have any in my mouth. I had to in the end boil some noodles and eat them plain while pinching my nose shut and can only drink water. Or like now Im at work and if I go outside in the night air I am fine but when I come back in the building I get that nasty smell for a few minutes.

I cant describe the smell but its strong and almost gag inducing and has a scent of metallic in it.

dear member,
the symptoms that you have described have not been noted with amoxicillin.
do you take metronidazole? that may cause your problems or captopril?
& if you are a young woman then youn should be sure that you are not pregnant!
also this could be due to the infection for which you are taking amox.
antibiotics generally leave a foul taste in the mouth but never a metallic taste.
consult your physician for further advise.
you may also try to change your antibiotic to see if it offers any relief.
regards,
wanderer.
