Default Severely Painful Anxiety Attacks

I'm a 19 year male and am a freshman in college. Reciently I have been having very serious and severe panic attacks, so severe that because of the attack my muscles tense up (esp. my jaw) to the point where it feels as though they were bruised the next day, with that it feel as though my throat is completely closing off on me and i have a very uncomfortable time trying to breath and at the same time it felt as thought my heart was going to explode, besides all of that I begin to get nauseous just from the strees and even begin to get a painful PAINFUL headache.

SO I am currently a Male student in my first year of college. been diagnosed with depression as well as having ADD. I take 100mg of Zoloft for the depression and have regularly taken 70mg of Vyvasne until just recently i tapeerdf off it

I've been having attaks because of severe financial and support issues going on at home

because i have been having the panic attacks so frequently i got worried so i wet to a gp and was diagnosed with panic attacks

i was given .5mg of clonazepam to be taken 3 times daily because my attacks are so costant

unfortunately the clonazepam isnt really working so i called the doctor who said it would be okay to up the dose to 2 .5mg pills (so 1mg) that still hasnt really helped so my question IS:

Are there any other types of benzos (excluding xanax) that can be used as alternatives?

also, i have been spoke with counsolers and have see a psych but i really want to hear what other people know about the situation

Default hi there !!

Its sad to see a young person suffering and worrying sooo much in school about money!
but I wanted to post to you. I have PA's..and general anxiety for 20 or so yrs..now.!
You don't like xanax? It would work quite well becuz its fast working..but not long lasting.
there is also a very good anti-anxiety med called Klonopin.
its a benzo. works very well.
I use Librium and have had for many yrs. its an old drug, and not prescribed much anymore..though.

so i would say klonopin! I am sure things will ease up for you, and you won't have to take it toooo long. but being a student, I am sure its very hard to study and so on, having these feelings.

You may want to try relaxation...deep breaths from the abdomen, thru your nose..! It works everytime to regulate your breathing, when you don't feel like your breathing is quite right!..
p.s. I promise you, your throat is not closing.! just remember this is A VERY COMMON thought by ones that suffer from anxiety.
good luck
