If you have any concerns at all you should talk to your daughter's doctor.

Hello I had a comment about this drug. This drug is a anti_psychotic medication but can be prescribe to help sleep. I was on this medication and stopped it due to the tremendous side effects(present and long term). I recommend you speak to her doctor and also go online and search this medication. You will be surprised at what you will read about it.

I can't believe they gave Risperdal to a seven year old. It is an antipsycotic drug, and if your seven year old does not show psycotic behavior, maybe you could ask your doctor for alternative treatment to help her sleep. my son had difficulty sleeping when he was that age, and his doctor recommended melatonin, but your doctor would know if that would be a good idea for you.

Be careful! Watch your childs appetite! My son took this for a period of time and rapidly gained weight! My son is in special ed. and the same thing happened to some of his friends that started taking it. This is not true with every child though, my two nephews have been taking it for years and are thin. Just something to watch for. Although Buspar might be a better alternative if it is just trouble with sleep and not depression, it is fast acting and non - addictive.
