Draco,
Risperidone is an antipsychotic that has sort of a "catch-all" effect. It can help decrease hallucinations, emotional excitement, delusions, and paranoia while also helping reorganize both speech and thought patterns. This is why it is usually given to patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. If you think you've been misdiagnosed, you could always go for a second opinion. If you are just concerned because you were put on risperidone, then I would talk with your doc and ask him/her any questions you may have as to why that choice of medication. It's your right and responsibility as a patient to be involved with your treatment and doctors appreciate patients who are open and honest about their feelings and concerns. Hope this helps you out.

if it`s a catch all then that ok `cause it should help paranioa. i was concerned about the fact that my research showed doc has me on 1mg more than clinical trials showed to be affective for schizoprenia from the first dose as oposed to starting at 0.5mg.

Draco,
It should help, but if it doesn't don't hesitate to let the doctor know, okay? Good luck.
