[newtoasthma]

I was diagonosed last week. I was given QVAR and a resque inhaler. I don't feel much relief, but did read that I might not for a few weeks. That doesn't make me very happy. Also I read that it could cause weight gain, not happy about that either, since I fight weight gain every minute of my life.

Have you taken this med? Is there something else my doctor could have given me that would not cause weight gain? Since it is a steroid, would it be
likened to prednisone? I am recovering from a intestinal perforation during a colonoscopy, and am worried since prednisone is linked to bowel perforations, that QVAR could possibly cause this to happen to me again, I am petrified!

I don't know much about asthma, or the drugs that are precribed for it.
