I have been taking yasmin 28 for over a year on a sunday start, and I wanted to know if it is safe to switch one week of inactive pills with active ones of a new package. I am on a vacation in a foreign country and it would be helpful not to get my period now.

Yes, perfectly safe. Women have been doing this for years, because of bodily hormones, it is really only necessary to let yourself have a period 3 times a year.
