Default Question about Xanax, how long does it stay in the system?

Hi

I have been a methadone patient for 6 years, for the past year I have been slowly tapering in an attempt to get off methadone completely. Right now I'm taking 45 mgs. daily.

Probably because I'm adjusting to this increasingly lower dose, I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping and having mild (not full-blown) panic attacks sometimes, especially at night. I took half a Xanax today without really thinking about it, from an old prescription I've had for ages.

For the past couple months I've taken Xanax kind of irregularly, maybe .5-1 mgs. once or twice a week. The last time I had one was about 4 days ago. and then the .5 mgs today. Well...I have a UA this coming Friday morning, which I really should have thought about lol.

So, I'm wondering...how long do yall think it will take this to get out of my system? And is there anything I can do to speed it up? I'm worried because I didn't register this Rx with my clinic so it will be seen as a "dirty" if it shows up.

You should PROBABLY be okay on the UA. DON'T take any more xanax. I surely would explain the situation AFTER you hopefully pass the UA if you plan to do this again.

They don't like you taking xanax with methadone as it can cause an interaction resulting in respiratory depression which is stopping breathing. That is obviously a pretty serious side effect.

It doesn't happen to everyone or you wouldn't be here. I'm not judging, just explaining the way it is. But xanax and methadone should not be mixed. Good luck and God bless.
