Default question about steroid shots?

i just got a steroid nerve block shot yesterday, and at the pharmacy it was a different brand of percocets, that i dont usually get. anyway, sice last night ive been noticing my heart fluttering, and except feeling agitated, i dont feel as though ive taken any pain meds.my back hurts as though i have not taken anything, and i have a stiff neck this morning.does this sound like a side effect of the steroid injection, or the new percocet script.im thinking maybe the steroid injection is stopping the percocets from working, if this is the case, hopefully only for a short time.does anyone know anything about this, please respond?

I have had a number of epidural steroid injections in my lumbar spine. No the shot won't stop the percocets to stop working. It should help lessen your pain so that you won't need the percocets.
Yes, your neck can be sore for a few days so don't worry about that unless it gets worse or doesn't get better within a week.
The other thing I wanted to mention is the oxycodone and tylenol (percocet) is a fast acting narcotic pain killer and is generally used for acute pain last usually no mre than a few weeks. After that, daily use of percocets increases the risk of tolerance.Once you start to get toerant to the drug then it loses it's effectiveness very quickly.
This were switching to a sustained release opiate like oxycontin (oxycodone in a sustained release pill).
Oxycontin is very successful for chronic pain and the percocet is then used occasionally for break thru pain.Good luck and give that injection a week or so to kick in........Dave
