Default Question about Lunesta

I have Obstructive Sleep Apnea. I am not your typical apnea patient in that I am not overweight and I have no upper respiratory issues. I don't even snore however I did have a sleep study that indicated that I stop breathing an average of 17 times an hour. I had surgery to relieve a deviated septum and to widen my nasal passages a few months ago. My sleep issues continued so I went to my ENT to discuss uvula plasty. He said I am not a candidate for it and that I am just one of those people that will be on CPAP for the rest of their life. Lucky me!!

He prescribed me Lunesta and I have some concerns. I use to suffer from severe anxiety attacks. They have all but vanished since I quit drinking 3 years ago. I have read that a side effect of Lunesta is anxiety and there is no way I want to go through that part of my life again. I would rather not sleep!! Does anyone have any experience with this product?

antony,
Thank you very much for that link. It was very informative and, based on the information I read, I won't be taking Lunesta. Sounds like there are alot more issues than advertised. Vivid full color nightmares, a horrible taste that lasts all day, dependancy issues, depression and anxiety attacks. Sounds more like a cause than a cure. I read more good things about Ambien so I will be looking into that. Thanks again.

Three weeks before I was to marry my wife she was prescribed Lunesta, and I was taking her pills (2 mg) about 3 times a week. And I suffered horrible panic attacks, once I was taken to the hospital, but mostly I suffered at home. I hadn't had an anxiety attack in 20 yrs, and it was horrible.

Now I've been off Lunesta for a month, and immediately got about 75% better. But now I'm left with constant low level anxiety. I'm wondering if it's stress for a new marriage, but the marriage has been great...I really think it's a result of the anxiety feelings from the Lunesta, and it opened a can of worms in my psyche. I just havn't found a way to totally get rid of this anxiety. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

I have taken lunesta and ambien..I am a chronic insomniac..The bad thing I have found "Personally "in both..THEY, call it forgetfulness..I make phone calls and have no recollection at all...otherwise it works great but for apnea I would not think a good thing.
I have an idea but I am thinking about marketing it!
