Default Question about expired morphine pills

I have 15mg immediate release morphine sulfate pills. I was going to use them because I am in a pinch right now I ran out of my usual 30mg oxycodone hydrochloride pills and i dont want to go through withdrawals So i was going to take the 15mg morphine to get by but the script was filled 1/11/05 and expired 1/11/06. So my question is do prescription painkillers really expire? what will happen if I take them? Thanks!

Pharmacies are required to put an expiration date on the prescription bottle. they can either put on the actual date of expiration of the drug, or 1 year from when the prescription was filled. Since you say that it expires exactly 1 year after you had it filled, I would bet that they did the latter. therefore, the drug is probably not actually expired.

if meds are expired they just loose their potency, have no fear.
