Default Question about Diazepam and Amitriptline

Hello.
I have question about the above drugs:
If you take Amitriptyline (Elavil), can you also take Diazepam with that?
It looks to me like the Elavil is a mood stabilizer, however, isn't Diazepam (valium) something that "brings you down"?
Both prescriptions are 10 mg each.
If anyone knows about this, any and all responses would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
