Default Pristiq & Alcohol... or not?

Okay so, I don't drink much. I have maybe one at dinner maybe twice a week, if that. I'm 4'11" and 130 lbs, so I know I have a low tolerance anyway. I've been on Pristiq (100mg) for about 6 months now. Never had a problem before tonight.

This evening, my husband and I went out for dinner. I had ONE glass of wine with dinner. I got dizzy, lightheaded, couldn't walk straight, was slurring my speech, it was awful! My husband thought it was hilarious of course, until I fell down walking up my sidewalk to the front door. He put me to bed, needless to say. Anyway, I slept it off and I'm fine now. No headache or anything.

What the heck happened to me? Could the medication have something to do with it? The website said to avoid drinking alcohol when taking Pristiq, but I haven't had a problem until now. Could it be something entirely different?

Also, I just started a new low-estrogen birth control, Alesse. Could that have something to do with it? Thanks for responding!
