Default PLEASE READ I NEED HELP NOW

I am going thru bad withdrawls from stopping percocet and darvocet cold turkey. I have 2 left or should I say 1 left. My doctor perscribed clonidine this morning 1mg pill that I took but didn't help the anxiety and jitters...so I snorted (1) of the percs that I had left along with the Ultram that I took this morning. I am very drowsy and at work. Does anyone know if Clonidine really works and when will I start feeling better? Please someone help me now. What should I do in the meantime while I am at work?

There is no easy answer. Clonidine can help, but it will not help like a narcotic. I would call your doctor, tell him/her you are in withdrawals, and you want to quit but are afraid of cold-turkey. They may give you one chance to taper off opiates slowly, but you need to be serious because it will not happen twice.

They won't give me anything to taper off. I really want to quit! How long do withdrawls usually last?

Dr. S
Thanks for the advice but I did go to the doctors this morning and all she gave me was the clonidine...nothing else. I should really see how I feel tomorrow again and see if works...if not maybe I should tell her that the cold turkey scares me. I doubt she will give me anything...but tapering off would be so much easier....if not the next few days are going to be hell, but they say the clonidine should help a little with it I guess. Am I going to be edgy all day long? Is it okay to take the Ultram (Tramadol) with it to help with the withdrawls?

Clonidine, was prescribed for me to take to lower my blood pressure.. It does make you very sleepy and drowsy. Iwas told by my endo that clonidine is a drug you cannot abruptly stop or you will have real bad systems.

You can always go to the hospital's ER for assistance if things get really, really bad. Good luck.

Do you think it would be better to only take the clonidine at night before I go to bed instead of during the day? It says twice a day...would it hurt me just to do that? Thanks any advice would help.

This is where I should know alot more before I offer advice. However, based on what you have written, you should be OK to take clonidine .1 mg twice daily to help with withdrawl. Take it this way for one week then go to 1 x day (night) for 1 week and quit. Your withdrawl will be over by then if you do not take anymore opiates. Tramadol can help, but it is an opiate as well so that is a double edged sword. ER is an option if you really start to feel bad...

Girl you need to find yourself. Taking drugs or any type of medicine does not solve any problem. When you find yourself and learn how to cope with your problem then u get back to us. No drug should make you feel better. You have to feel better within. Girl just love yourself and your problem might just go way.[:X]

Hi,
I read that taking ultram when going through opiate withdrawl makes the withdrawl symptoms worse. So I definitely would not take anymore ultram. I think trying cold turkey is not the way to go as you are to sure to use again to make all the bad feelings go away.
Subutex is great for withdrawl symptoms but you will have to find a doctor that can prescripe it. You let up to 8mg(depending on how much you need) disvolve under you tongue and within an hour or two all withdrawl symptoms are gone. Plus for most people, the subutex will block the high feeling from taking other pills therefore you want want to take anymore. You have another option of methadone but that's lifelong treatment where as the subutex you can wing off of.
Hope this helps a little. Please let me know if you have anymore questions.
