Default Parnate

My doctor has taken me off of all my anti-depressants. He says that I need to flush out my sustem for six weeks. Then, he is going to try Parnate. I realize a lot of foods and drugs interact with Parnate. And I am wondering if Extra Strength Tylenol falls into the group that I cannot take?

Any advice?
Thx;

From reading online and from the list my dr gave me on the foods I have to avoid, cheese is on this list. Is American or Provolone Cheese ok to eat?
Thx;

Thank you Dave for answering my questions. I think the diet the dr gave me to follow is going to be the hardest part. I am a very fussy eater and it seems most of the things I like are on the list. I hope I can stick to the diet. I am a cheese fanatic! & Pepperoni grinders are my favorite.

Anyway, back to the cheese. Does this include cheese snacks? Like cheese twists, or cheeze-its, etc?

One other question. I have looked online about the diet as well. And on this list one says I cannot eat banana's, the other says I cannot eat banana peels. Well, which is it? And who eats banana peels anyway. Yuck. So, are banana's ok or are they banned as well?

And what happens if I cheat? For example, say I go on a cheese binge, what would happen to me?

Again, thx so much.

Hi Corey,
If you "cheat" you may be risking your life. Within a VERY short period you will go into full hypertensive crisis. At this time, you have 30 min. to get to a hospital to receive an injection to counteract this process. Without this injection, you may very well go into full cardiac arrest! It is nothing to fool with.

Hi;
I have a very serous problem with lethargy. The psychiatrist told me he really can't do anything about it because it's caused by the depression and I will be starting the Parnate. I started taking the Parnate on Friday and the lethargy seems to be worse. Is this normal? Will it pass?

Thx so much;

I have been on Parnate for years and my doctor told me to basically ignore the list of forbidden foods, except for aged cheese. I eat cheese every day and I'm still here and healthy. Tell your doctor that a world-class psychiatrist in Montreal says that list is outdated and unnecessary. Ask him to check it out for you. Also, be sure that when you have dental work done, the dentist freezes you with medication that does not have adrenalin. Again, double-check with your doctor about the foods, but my doctor says I can have a normal diet, except for the aged cheese.
