Default From oxycontin to suboxone

Well here goes, after using this forum for 2 years to learn about the pills I was taking and to identify them, I decided to post a thread (and I really cant spell) that hopefully will help at least one person out there. I started taking Vicodin in small doeses and after a year I was chewing 16 pills of 10/750 in one sitting. I eventually started to sell drugs just to suport this habit of getting high. At this time in my life I was very knowledgable about opiates and was taking any kind I could get just to not be sick. I had to quit my job and leave school in RI and go back to my parents house in Buffalo. This was when I went through the first detox, with nothing but my couch and my two dogs by my side. Months later I was back at school now my senior year of college and was clean for a few months. That didnt last for long as I began to love oxycontin. For the next year I was taking around 400mg of oxycontin a day, which was up until this past sunday. To make this short I made an apointment with a substance abuse doctor who specialized in suboxone detox. I had my first apointment today and just got home at 2pm. I was given my first does of subutex and 1pm and my chills, crazy feeling, sadness and everything else is not even a bother, I dont even feel like I want any painkillers. This is only day one and I feel like I am geting my life back already. If anyone has any questions about any painmeds and really wants help getting off them, just send me a message I will help you find a doc near you to help.

That's the beauty of buprenorphene!!! It takes away your withdrawls and cravings by binding very tightly to your opiate receptors. It may take you a few days to get the right dose but you're off to a good start.Good luck.....Dave

The 30 mgs you're referring to is for methadone patients. Most other opiates half lives are short and after 24 hrs you can take the suboxone. Some people do go right from taking their d.o.c. to suboxone but you need to be careful as it can send you into some pretty bad withdrawls......Dave
