There isn't one. Oxycontin was a name brand for a 12 hour time release tablet of it,and Roxicodone was the instant release version. Then Oxycodone was used for generics, desginated with either a CR or ER for the 12 hour, and IR for the instant release.

But the full name of the chemical salt of the drug is Oxycodone Hydrochloride. Many of them are shortened when released on the general market just to make the drug name easier for consumers to remember, and ask their doctor about.

But they are ALL Oxycodone HCL, just different dosages, and some are instant release, while some are sustained release.

My information is not guaranteed correct. I do not get them right all the time, but I do enjoy the hunt~

Exclamation Information.. Oxycodone vs. oxycodone HCI

The difference in responce to the question asked is as follows:

Oyxcodone HCI is less potent than Oxycodone,

I just learned this from the side of my pill bottle from Mylan Pharm Manfacturer.
The exact wording is as follows.

EACH TABLET CONTAINS:

OXYCODONE HCI, USP 10MG
ACETAMINOPHEN, USP 650MG

* 10MG OF OXYCODONE HCI IS EQUIVALENT TO 8.9637 MG OF OXYCODONE.
