Unhappy over medicated

I think my mom is being over medicated due to the fact that her doctor has her on at least 24 different perscriptions; Methadone, Hydrocodone, Metaxalone, Celebrex, Adderrall XR, Neurontin, Bupropion, temazepam ... She has gone thru several surgeries over the past few years (5 since October) My concern grew when she couldn't even stay away for more than 5 minutes while talking or eating after her latest surgery this week. The showed concern with the nurse and she too said she is on really high dosages for several of the drugs and that I should speak to her doctor. After researching the drugs and their interactions I have major concerns. Any advise would be great - I just want my mom back and my children want their Nana.

You first need to make an appointment with her doctor asap. Then get and write down every prescription she is taking.Make sure you get the name of the drug, what dosage the drug is and how many and how often it's prescribed per day.
It sounds like there is more then one doctor ordering all these meds.
She is definately in danger from overdosing and she's likely addicted to the opiates. Please get her in asap and make sure you record every prescription she has and from which doctor...Good luck, this may be a long road ahead for you.......Dave

Default over medicated

Thanks I am planning on calling him Monday morning but didn't know if I should continue the research on the effects/interactions since the Dr obviously doesnt seem to be cuz he has the entire list of meds and doesages - she claims that her doctor would only take her on if he did not have to adjust the doses on that cuz 'not his field' but wouldnt you think that is his responsibility when so many of their interactions may cause seizures? They have me taking her in 2 times a week for blood work to monitor things but the 40mg of methadone 3 times a day as a pain maintainance program without plans of reducing seems really bad with the research I have been doing - Do you know anyone who has been on Methadone for long term pain management?
