Default Nystatin

I posted this elsewhere & I think it actually belongs here...anyway... My doc prescribed Nystatin b/c my body is overwhelmed w/candida. However, I read the info on this site & it says that oral tablets are not absorbed in the stomach & will not treat yeast systemically. So my ? is: what is the point of taking it then?

Anyone else here taken it before for candida? What was your experience? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

(I know I can take "natural" anti-fungals but I am on a fixed income & my insurance will cover the Nystatin at no cost to me.)

Thanks,

~Melissa

it is true, this drug is not absorbed. it will not work if taken by mouth for something like a nail infection.

however the tablets can be used for candida that infects the intestines. they also make a vaginal tablet for yeast infections.

if your overwhelming candida is within your intestines this will kill it.
