First of all, IBS have several different subtypes and you could have other factors contributing to the IBS to be taking
Nexium. Nexium is in the
drug class PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) that inhibits your stomach from secreting stomach acid usually used to treat GERD, and prevent ulcers when taking an NSAID.... among other uses. For the simple answer, no, it is not typically something used to treat IBS since IBS has to deal more with your intestines in most cases and not your stomach. There could certainly be a reason that your doctor did put you on PPI since your stomach is obviously part of your GI tract and he wanted to lower stomach acid for some reason or other so it is not really a simple yes/no answer.
