Default Nerve block to get off the oxy's

I know this is a drug site but would like your assist. as I'm trying to get off the o.contin. My doc. has suggested a "selective nerve block" in my back. He says that under x-ray they inject numbing med. right on the nerve causing the pain. Have any of you had this? What are your feelings ref. success/failure, bad effects, risks etc? I do want to quit the pain med's. but not at the risk of making things worse. Thanks.....

I have had a xray guided nerve block and it did the trick for 3 hours. Lidicane was used to determine if it was the right area. The follow up was cortizone which did nothing. Personally I think he missed. I do know people who have them 3 times a year (all their allowed) and swear by them. It's better than surgery or taking narcotics everyday.
Good Luck
