Default Neosporin Allergy?

I have been using Neosporin Plus Ointment on my face- it was suggested by my brother's science professor as a way to treat acne. It seemed to be helping my acne, but in the meantime I have broken out into an eczema-like rash all over my arms and chest, and I have never had eczema before (I'm 21). I am wondering if there could be a connection between the two- if perhaps I am allergic to one of the ingredients in Neosporin or if using it for more than a week has effected the immunity of my skin somehow. I haven't had any adverse reactions on the actual area that I apply the Neosporin.
