Default Need Info on Celexa and BuSpar

I am a long-time panic attack sufferer who has taken just about every SSRI (Prozac, Luvox, Paxil, Zoloft). I am currently taking Celexa (40 mg) and have been since late November. I continue to have panic attacks, so my doctor gave me a prescription for BuSpar. He told me to continue taking Celexa daily and take the BuSpar only when I have a "break through" panic attack. My research on BuSpar indicates it should be taken daily. Anyone else take BuSpar and/or Celexa and have advice for me? Thanks.

Hi, I read your post, I have taken Buspar for 15 years and always with a companion antidepressant. Right now I take 40mg celexa and 30mg buspar.

Buspar has always taken away the physical anxiety symptoms, but, I still had anxious thoughts... no palpitations, or anything physically happening to drive me into an actual anxiety attack. I had to give it time intially, but I stuck with it and felt I would have to work on the anxious thoughts, but as long as I had no physical side effects..I've been on it and have never needed another drug for anxiety. If I have some breakthru anxiety symptoms, I can bump up my buspar dosage until they go away.

The antidepressant dosage has been adjusted over the years, based on what was going on in my life, and basically, how bad I felt.

I would not try to use buspar as a "take one when you need it" pill, they are only a very minor tranquilizer, and it takes time to build up in your system.

Hope this helped.
