I'm newly diganosed with HIV my doctor has been on my butt to start meds. We have been fighting about it for a few months now. She perscribed gabapentin a week ago for pain, (she will not give me a 5mg oxycodone) instead she gave me this ********. I have been so sick the last few days, broke out with a awful rash, etc.. I went to see her today because I felt so ill I thought it was my HIV kicking my butt, I decided to tell her I was ready for meds. I showed her my rash and explained how sick I've been. I teased her about her ********py gabapentin. After all these months of fighting with her she said she wasn't going to begin my meds. This I thought was so very odd. Can anyone tell me if Truvada,Isentress, and gabapentin could have caused some very bad problems? I should have gone to the hospital with the side effects I had from this gabapentin, now I'm not to sure if I trust her ability to start me on HIV meds at all. Help out a newly diganosed girl who is scared of the virus in its self and the meds scare me just as bad..... Thanks januarygirl

Hi Januarygirl! Let me start by saying, I am sorry to hear of your HIV diagnosis. I'm sure a lot is going on in your head. If you don't have a support system around you, I would look into some local charities that deal with HIV patients on a daily basis. They tend to be more understanding. I volunteer at a local HIV charity and know that a lot of people when first diagnosed go through a lot of turmoil. You need to talk with someone. If you have legitimate pain, then you should absolutely be prescribed something that will help you. I will say a prayer for you tonight. Take care and know that you can live a long a productive life as long as you take good care of yourself.
