is suboxone the same as methodone or is methodone just a way to stop withdrawals?

suboxone is part of a medically assisted detox regimine.subutex(buprenorphine) is the first medication u take which helps the first few days of heavey withdrawl and suboxone is the second which is subutex with naltrexone which is an opiate blocker.subutex is a partial opiate agonist.its not a full agonist like methadone so its potential for abuse is not as great.hope this helps

p.s subutex is the newest detox med for opiates on the market i did my detox with it and it was amazeing methadone sucks

you need a script for subutex.The maximum dosage is 32mgs/day, it should be used under a doctors care.....Dave[:I]

yes u need to go to an addiction specialist he will assess u and them treat u accordingly,i was taking 2-3 oc 80s a day and this medicine worked well for me.it sounds like u want to get clean which is the first step just follow through youll feel great after detox and wont wake up every morning thinking about your next dose.the doc will give u a program and the script.good luck,u dont have to be a prisoner to drugs espesially if u dont need them.

Do you have any information on Suboxone vs Methadone. I have been on methadone for awhile (6mo) and it works great for my chronic back pain. But I did some stupid ******** and copied a prescription to try and make some money. Needless to say I got caught and my doctor discharged me. I tried getting off the medication myself but ended up in the ER two nights ago (08-07-05). While in the ER I got to speak with a social worker and she recommended Suboxone. I have been reading everything on this website for about the past 6 hours and pretty much am no better off then when I started. Its six one way a half dozen the other. I have been seeing the Suboxone really doesn't help pain nearly as much as methadone. One thing that did read on this sight that I agree with is that their is a difference between addication and dependancy. This whole time I thought I was and addict for being on this medication for so long. But when I really think about it, I never missused my medication, I took as prescribed, so I really think that I am just dependant on the medication because it gives me a good quaility of life as far as being able to work and taking care of the pain. I would give the suboxone a try it is similar to methadone in that it last 48 to 72 hrs a dose.It will keep the cravings and withdrawls away.I'm not up to date on it's pain killing qualities but I think I remember reading they were good but not as good as methadone.What have you got to lose,better than withdrawls.Good luck..Dave

If your doc discharged you, are you still able to get methadone? Suboxone is used as a withdrawal tool for people who are committed to getting off opiates.

Methadone is the drug from hell - it rots your teeth, gets into your bones and muscle tissue, and is the worst, most prolonged withdrawal of all It took me 6 months to taper from 20mg daily to 0. I've been off it 6 weeks now and am still suffering. I don't mean to scare you, but unless you want to be a slave to this drug for life, you need to start slowly tapering now. Methadone and suboxone fight each other - suboxone is a partial antagonist that will knock the methadone off your receptors, causing immediate severe withdrawal.

When you have tapered down to 30mg a day you may be able to switch to suboxone under a doctor's supervision. Then you will have a chance to get your life back, and a choice to manage your pain a different way. (even if you need opiates, just not methadone!)

I use hydrocodone and kratom to manage withdrawals and pain now, but feel justified - anything is better than methadone! (suboxone wasn't an option for me, Kaiser wouldn't allow me to use it for getting off methadone.) Hopefully you'll have better luck if you go that route - Suboxone has been a lifesaver for many people.

I'm a herion addict with a gram a day habit. The 1st time I used any bupranoraphine it was as a test subject 10 yars ago and it was a sublingual liQuid. It worked amazing! Does anyone still make it liQuid anymore?
I think now that it's been through the system, it's been tainted. As with nalexone
but also something else! It worked like a dream before. I never got above 12 mil
a day and just one dose in the am. After 2 months of being on it and trying to get high on top of it(which no worky so I stopped trying) I had to go on a trip.
I left with nothing and was terrified. No cut down , nothing! I was fine although I drank a little bit. I was clean!!!!! I guess it's time released so it just did a cut down on it's own. I'm hoping the government didn't screw it up too much when they legalized it. I do know that they are comfortable having a hold on us in any way they can and this certainly is one of their ways, as is methadone. But I plan on making this work!
If someone can answer some of these rambles I would be very happy!!!!!

I have heard of people taking bup. (must be sans nalex.) while their still high and transferring right into the bup. and then off! I want that! I had That!
I currently have a supply of what I think is subutex (white /sans nalexone I think; please correct me if I'm wrong) Is one orange and one white?
I plan on using them but I want to do it right!

Dave, Thanx! One Question? the color of suboxone vs the color of subutex?
I need to know what I allready have ? They told me it was the TEX and they are white pills but I did get very ill when I took em!
This again is , i think, because of my big habit vs. the ceiling of the bup.! Which is? 40mg? then it won't work anymore or ?????mg.
