Unfortunately one of methadone's side effects is sweating and most people suffer from it.I am one of the lucky one's as I don't sweat on methadone.A starting dose for pain for methadone is determined by a few factors. Is the patient opiate tolerant and if so how much, what kind of pain and the severity ect.Usually they start you out at 5-10mgs TID.Then you can go from there as methadone is a very powerful pain killer.Remember to that methadone has a 24-36hr half life so you don't need to take as often as say vicodon. Also if your taking methadone for a long time it takes about 5 days for a dose change to level out in your serum levels.Don't mix methadone with benzodiazepines, alcohol, cocaine, barbituates as all of these when mixed with methadone can cause respitory failure.Good luck and be careful this is a good drug but one you can't screw around with.....Dave
