Can anyone tell me what the general dosing method is for
methadone for doctors/clinics??
I feel like every thread I have read says that people start on 8o-100 mgs when they switch to methadone from
oxycontin/opiates... isnt this way too high?? I know that people in legitimate pain will be dosed differently..
I started taking methadone by accident when I brought some on a trip overseas in case I ran out of Oxys (which I did). I did not have any DR or clinic telling me what dose to start at.. i had no experience with methadone at all so I took one or two 10mg pills per day at the most! i felt fine never had any w/d symptoms... and I was taking 320 mgs of oxycontin per day which is relatively high right?
Im only asking because I feel like withdrawals are alot due to anxiety and mental issues that we cause ourselves, so when a clinic tells us we should be on 100mg of methadone we feel "sick" if we take 80mg that day.
Does anyone else have experience with this? Or agree with me? I'm not trying to be judgemental in any way toward people on high doses. Rather, I want people to know that they CAN taper themselves down if they can beat the mind-games that withdrawals cause us...
Has anyone else started themselves on methadone and were fine on a lower dose? Some people have told me that clinics purposefully dose you high to keep you coming back... any input?
