    Default is lyrica a narcotic?

I was put on a new medication for my constant back pain called LYRICA, can anyone tell me if it is a narcotic or an opiod? I found very little on the net and what I did find says nothing about this, I was made to sign a contract for chronic opiod therapy, so I figure it is an opiod. I just need to make sure. Can anyone please help me with this? Thanks alot. missmishu2004

A narcotic is any drug that is a schedule II drug according to the DEA. Lyrica is a schedule V drug. Being a schedule V drug make Lyrica a controlled drug however. Lyrica does have a low possibility of addiction, but nothing like a narcotic would.
