Lortab is brand name for a painkiller combining hydrocodone (a narcotic) and apap (Tylenol). Lortab come in three strengths of hydrocodone, 5, 7.5 and 10mg. all lortab contain 500mg apap. Brand-name Lortab are manufactured by UCB Pharma, generic lortabs are availiable. Lortab, like all hydrocodone/apap combos (vicodin, lorcet and norco are a few others) Lortab is a schedule III controlled substance, making possession w/o a prescription illegal, also selling or transfering w/o a DEA liscence is illegal even w/ a script. Anything else you want to know?

Lortab is actually a Scheduled II drug and it is very addictive. I took it off and on for five years and is very good for pain control but it finally got the best of me and I had to spend time in rehab. I am now off hydrocodone and on the Fentanyl patch, 50 mg. This is a powerful opiate, but you get it in such small doses that you don'tt get high yet it controls my pain. It's not suppose to be as addictive as other opiates.

Good Luck

I think you will find that lortab, like all hydrocodone and codeine products containing less than 15mg hydrocodone (or 90mg codeine) AND at least one additional nonnarcotic agent of theraputic value (in this case tylenol) are a schedule III controlled substance in the United States. Pure hydrocodone or codeine, in any amount, is schedule II.
from Sec. 1308.13 paragraph E (ii) and (iv) of the CSA.
