LAMICTAL for Bipolar??

Hi,I was just put on Lamictal 25 mg for Bipolar~~ Has anyone tried this drug and does it help?? Any side affects to be worried about?? I also take0.5 mg Clonazepam and 250mg Depakote. I just started taking this today so dont know what really to expect.... Any input would be appreciated

I had bad enough side effects to stop taking it, the only good thing in my book about it is it is weight neutral. It seems you either love it or hate it...

I have been taking Lamictal for about 3 weeks now for bipolar. My doctor told me that I would begin noticing effects on or around 3 weeks of treatment. This is pretty accurate. The treatment effect that I have noticed is the stabilization of mood & decrease in severity of mania. He also upped my Effexor from 175mg to 225mg at the same time. So, the treatment effect I am experiencing is probably from the synergistic effect of the combination.

Just started Lamictal myself.about tthree weeks ago.My side effects included fatigue.ithchy skin, and a stuffy nose.Most of these side effects have gotten better. I'm up to 50mg a day working my wat up to 200mg.I also take 900mg of lithium and 3mg of Invega.My deprssion has eased up greatly and they may take me off lithium soon. Good luck!

If you develop a rash tell your doctor asap because that's not good;but as long as they bring you along slowly you'll be fine.You may also bi in a aggitated state for the first week or so but that's normal on a low dose. It'll get better on a higher dose.
